An interdisciplinary approach in the research field Materials
Übersichtbild

The interdisciplinary approach of the KIT Materials Center links fundamental and applied research. It crosses the lines between disciplines and creates in this way new synergies. The involved institutes and research groups conduct the research work on their own authority. The joining of subjects, the interdisciplinary collaboration of scientists, and the common use of high-end devices and installations, develops a new quality of research and teaching.

The KIT Materials Center pools the excellence of several outstanding research programs, projects, and facilities in this field.

Graduate schools/colleges and doctoral programs

KIT offers young scientists a variety of doctoral programs: graduate schools, graduate colleges and doctoral programs in various disciplines.

The focus of the doctoral programs is:

  • the training of PhD students in promising research topics, as part of a research program
  • the support of their personal career development and scientific independence within a structured qualification concept

In addition, the programs promote early networking, internationalization and interdisciplinary collaboration among doctoral students.
